Saturday 2/20/10   A lot going on in Vancouver.  We saw Lisa at the Olympic Village on Monday.  What a place.  The security there is very tight and we are very grateful for that!!  It is a very nice place that overlooks the water.  Every view is beautiful and the apartments have a lot of windows.

Tuesday was game day against Russia!!  Dale, Joellen, (our wonderful friends from Minooka), Jeff and I spent the day getting to the rink on time.  One thing we found out was to get there early!!  The security lines were very long.  The good news – USA won 13 – 0!!  They played a great game!

Wednesday we got to see Lisa briefly.  They did a taping for the Ellen show. http://ellen.warnerbros.com/videos/?autoplay=true&mediaKey=0f312a13-aaec-4c93-a7ef-522ba41fc2a7, The ladies are big fans!!  Lisa also tapped a segment for the Weather Channel.  She was very excited to do that.  Her major is Atmospheric Sciences and she really did a great job for her first time out. http://www.weather.com/multimedia/videoplayer.html?clip=16543

Thursday was game day again!!  They played Finland.  The USA won again 6 – 0!!  It was a great game.  The USA ladies really played like a well oiled machine!  So happy to see them come together like this.  Very proud parents in the stands!!

Friday was wonderful.  USA Hockey hosted a get together with the Women’s and Men’s hockey teams and their families.  It was held at a country club in North Vancouver.  After a short bus trip up the side of the mountain we were there!!  What a beautiful time getting to hang out with the parents and family members of both teams!!  Everyone seemed to have a great time.

We are having a wonderful time

Well, here we are at the Olympics.  What a great first 3 days!!  We have gotten to see a lot of the sights in Vancouver.  What a city!  The people are very nice and helpful too.  For the first couple of days the temperature was around 50, but lots of rain.

The opening ceremony was unbelievable!!!  It really doesn’t matter where you are from or if you care for sports of any kind….The ceremony brought tears to your eyes!!  It is hard to believe that we were there.  We got a lot of great pictures.

Yesterday we finally got to see game 1 against the team from China.  The USA ladies really played as a team.  We were also very happy for Lisa….she got her first Olympic goal and assist!!  WOOT WOOT!!!  We also got to hang out with her for awhile at the Procter & Gamble house in downtown Vancouver.  It’s a great place where the USA athletes and their families can congregate and get away from the craziness for awhile.  Great food there too.We also were very impressed with the Chinese goalie – 67 shots on goal from what we can remember.  She really played outstanding.

There is no game for the USA Women today, so after her practice we are going to see Lisa at the Olympic Village.  Can’t wait, it should be a lot of fun.  Lisa says that when the games are over the apartments of the Olympic Village will be sold as condos.  She said that they are pretty nice with GREAT views of the water.  Vancouver would make a great vacation place!!
